Syner Chem Cosmetic Chemical Isopropyl myristate(IPM) CAS 110-27-0  Application in Cosmetics

Isopropyl Myristate (IPM) has several important applications in the cosmetic field:
1. Emollient
Isopropyl Myristate (IPM) is an excellent emollient. It forms a thin, non – greasy film on the skin surface. This film helps to prevent the skin from losing moisture by reducing transepidermal water loss. As a result, it keeps the skin soft, smooth, and supple. For example, in body lotions and face creams, it gives a pleasant skin feel after application.
2. Skin penetration enhancer
In cosmetic formulations,Isopropyl Myristate (IPM) can act as a penetration enhancer. It helps other active ingredients, such as vitamins (e.g., vitamin A, C, E), peptides, and plant extracts, to penetrate the stratum corneum of the skin more effectively. This is crucial for the active ingredients to reach the deeper layers of the skin where they can exert their beneficial effects, such as anti – aging, antioxidant, or moisturizing effects.
3. Solvent
Isopropyl Myristate (IPM) has good solvent properties for many cosmetic ingredients that are insoluble or poorly soluble in water. It can dissolve lipophilic substances like fragrances, pigments, and some preservatives. In lipstick formulations, for example, IPM can dissolve the colorants and keep them evenly distributed, ensuring a smooth and consistent color application.
4. Texture modifier
Isopropyl Myristate (IPM) is used to modify the texture of cosmetic products. In creams and lotions, IPM can improve the spreadability and consistency of the product. It can make the product easier to apply and spread evenly on the skin, enhancing the overall user experience.
5. Shine and gloss enhancer
In products like lip glosses and hair serums, Isopropyl Myristate (IPM) can add shine and gloss. In lip gloss, it gives a shiny appearance to the lips, and in hair serums, it can make the hair look sleek and shiny by coating the hair strands.

Syner Chem Isopropyl myristate(IPM) CAS 110-27-0 Documents

Syner Chem Isopropyl myristate(IPM) CAS 110-27-0 is usually commercially produced through the esterification reaction between myristic acid and isopropyl alcohol (isopropyl alcohol or isopropanol).

The specific production process is roughly as follows: First, let myristic acid and isopropyl alcohol undergo an esterification reaction to generate a compound. Then, distill this compound. Next, use a base to neutralize the catalyst and further distill this secondary compound to finally obtain isopropyl myristate, that is, IPM.

Isopropyl myristate(IPM)  is produced by chemical synthetic method, it can obey the Halal requirement.
